Mario Villearreal grew up on the tough streets of East Austin, between Rosewood and Chicon. An area of Austin where at the time gangs and drugs were rampant. Feeling a need to be a part of a family, he joined a local street gang and quickly found his way in and out of the “system”. After years of drug and alcohol abuse and serving time in juvenile, and Del Valle Country Club, he realized he needed to change some things. While he was working in downtown Austin, he met his future wife Amy. After a year of up’s and downs they decided to move to Killeen, TX in 2000, this would be the turning point of their life.
They were invited to a Revival service and It was at that first service that they were transformed by the Spirit of God. Since that time, Mario and Amy have been a part of the Potter's House Church in Killeen for over 20 years. Mario has served the church in a number of different capacities from Worship leader, to Usher, to Bible Study Assistant.
Amy has been vital in various ministries through out the past 23 years as well. She served as Nursery Leader, worship team and even had her own singing group named "Set Free". Though ministry for both of them has changed over the years, one constant has remained, she has stayed an ever present help and support to her husband and family.
Now, on to the next chapter. Mario and Amy were launched out into the Harvest Field at the very first Bible Conference in Killeen. He was ordained for the ministry on April 22, 2021 and began a church plant in Hutto, TX. Soon after, a need arose and they were asked to once again answer the call of God and move back to where it all started, Harker Heights. Now, their journey has come full circle, preaching the gospel in the same city that they were saved in 23 years ago. God is truly a miracle worker. Harker Heights church continues to be an extension of our church family in Killeen.
